The Island of Crimea

March 3, 2014

Ha! As soon as the Crimean crisis erupted I thought of the Aksyonov novel, and when Sergei Aksyonov was announced as the new “prime minister” I was struck by the coincidence; I’m not sure whether I’m pleased or disappointed to learn it may not be a coincidence.

I thought of the Aksyonov book right away, too… I read it years ago in translation and bought it in Russian not too long ago so there may be a reread (of sorts) coming up.
