Compare Translations

December 19, 2013

I just stumbled on what looks like a fantastic tool: the website Compare Translations. It’s just what it sounds like. Try their page for Fathers and Sons. They also have Dostoevskii, Tolstoi, Lermontov, others. No Leskov yet. I’m not sure how long they’ve been around or whose idea it was, but my thanks to whoever is behind it! It should be very useful whether you know the source language of the translation or not.

Great idea, but they seem to have very little content yet, or I’ve been unlucky in the authors I checked (for Plato, for instance, they seem to have only the Greek text). But yes, when it works (Turgenev, Proust), it’s great. Thanks for the heads-up!
