Can you trust “jbjc2” as much as “JSTOR”?

John Randolph’s post is interesting both for saying that important materials are available online but with “unclear provenance” (such as a complete run of The Northern Bee/Северная пчела, apparently), and for the questions it raises about using such sources, which are hard to authenticate and may have been produced illegally, even if they are not altered by their online publishers.
